Bantwal: 72% voter turnout in municipality polls, 11 vacant seats in GPs

Bantwal, Nov 23: Polling for the vacant seat in Bantwal Municipality and 11 other vacant positions in various Grama Panchayats took place on Saturday, November 23, with a brisk and peaceful turnout.

Polling, which began at 7 am, saw a strong response across the region.

Bantwal Municipality recorded a 72% voter turnout. In Sajipamunnuru Grama Panchayat, three booths saw turnout rates of 66%, 61%, and 55%. Other areas reported the following participation: Manchi – 71%, Biliyuru – 69%, Kudambettu – 65%, Sajipamooda – 76%, Panjikallu – 75%, Panjikallu – 74%, Amtadi – 67%, and Badagabelluru – 69%, according to the taluk Office.

Enhanced security measures were in place, with additional police teams deployed at polling booths to ensure smooth voting. Police, led by the Circle Inspector, maintained strict law and order throughout the day.
