Mangaluru, Dec 29: In a noble deed, even in the hour of extreme grief of the loss of a loving member, family members of accident victim donated his organs.
On December 26, Sathish (32), a resident of Moorje in Punjalakatte, met with accident while riding his bike. He was critically injured. He was declared brain dead at Father Muller Hospital. His family members decided to donate his heart, liver and kidneys.
Sathish’s heart was donated to Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru, while the liver was donated to Narayana Hridayalaya in Bengaluru. One kidney each was donated to Kasturba Hospital in Manipal and K S Hegde Hospital in Deralakatte.

Green corridor arrangement was done by the traffic police to transport the organs meant for hospitals in Bengaluru by flight. Zero traffic was ensured while transporting the organs from Fr Muller Hospital to Mangaluru International Airport on Wednesday December 29 morning.
Medical superintendent Dr Uday Kumar, director of Father Muller Charitable Institutions Fr Richard Coelho, public relation officer Dr Kelvin Pais and administrator of Father Muller Medical College Fr Ajith Menezes were present.
