Doha: Indian Woman Loses Passport, Gets Stranded, Dies in Airport

Daijiworld Media Network – Doha (SP)

Doha, Oct 11: An Indian woman named Beebi Lumada, a native of Kerala state, died at Muscat airport after being stranded there for four days. She was detained at the airport, as she had lost her passport, said an official of the Indian embassy here on Sunday October 10. Reportedly, she lost her passport while changing flight in Doha.

Beebi Lumada was working as a housemaid in Muscat. Officials said she could not even been sent back to Muscat, as she had got her residential permit in Muscat cancelled, before travelling to India. Newspapers reported airport officials as saying that the immigration department and Indian embassy, which were informed of the situation, did nothing to move her out of the airport. Beebi, in course of time, was overwhelmed with fear, suffered from symptoms of hysteria and died of some illness. The actual cause of her death is yet to be established. She breathed her last while being carried to a hospital. On Monday last, she was trying to return to Thiruvananthapuram through a Qatar Airways flight via Doha. She was not allowed to take the flight, as she had lost her passport.

She stayed in the transit area of Muscat airport, where she was provided with food. It is learnt that the Indian embassy, which was trying to help her, could not get any documents for paving way for her travel to India. On Friday, her health deteriorated. She was being shifted to Ibn Sina Hospital when she died in the ambulance itself, the officials said. The body of the woman is being flown back to India soon.

This is how our Indian Embassy officals work. Till the lady was alive they couldn't find any way to make her travel but the moment she is dead everything is arranged. This is the value of a Indian life. Any questions asked to the responsible people or same liek CWG games ???. We need better governance and a govt. that makes people responsible not just to provide work and salary but ask question when they err.

Congratulations once again to the Indian Embassy for taking such good care of their stranded citizens abroad. India wants to send rockets to the moon but won't spend money to feed the starving masses or take care of their citizens who are stranded abroad. Once again congratulation to Indian Embassy and Indian Government.

This is the value of an ordinary Indian's life! Four days stranded at the airport and the Indian Embassy could do nothing about her?
Now I know why Indians will do anything to migrate to another country. We are just being flicked like a fly by our own people. Shame on Indian Embassy officials of Doha Qatar. They must give an account for this irresponsible behaviour. Is Vayalar Ravi listening?
