Riyadh: Saudi Konkan Association Riyadh Celebrates Monti Fest

Riyadh, KSA, Sep 21: Saudi Konkan Association Riyadh (SKAR), the oldest association of Mangalorean Konkani Catholics, here celebrated Monti Fest for the twenty-first year on Thursday September 16 night at Thomas D’Souza’s residence.
SKAR secretary Wilfred Goveas conducted the prayer. The little children offered the flowers to Infant Mary while singing ‘Morye Hogollsiyam,’
Leo Sequeira conveyed the festival wishes and briefed about the significance of Monti Fest for the Mangalorean Catholics
Norbert Pinto and Michelle Mascarenhas sung a Konkani hymn ‘Morye Moje Mogaali Maaye.’
The blessed ‘Novem’ which was brought from Mangalore was distributed among all who gathered.
There was a group dance by children - Allan, Tejal, Michelle and Shalon which was choreographed by Rekha Sequeira.
The traditional ‘Novem Jevaan’ which was prepared by the members of SKAR was served to all the gathering.
The members enjoyed the dancing for Konkani Baila music. There were games for children and adults. Thomas D’Souza distributed the prizes to the winners of various games.
Wilfred Goveas thanked all who gathered for the Celebration, as well as sponsors for the occasion and those who prepared delicious homemade food.
SKAR has been celebrating Monti fest, Christmas and Easter every year ever since it was founded during 1989 and trying to keep up Mangalorean traditions as much they can in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).
