Three Saudis Get Death for Drug Running

JEDDAH, Sep 20(Arab News): A Jeddah court on Sunday sentenced three Saudi men to death for smuggling drugs into the Kingdom from Yemen.

The three men were part of an eight-member gang that tried to smuggle 98 kilograms of hashish from Yemen to Jazan and then on to Jeddah.

Four members of the gang were sentenced to 15 years in jail while the eighth was sentenced to 70 lashes.

A ninth man was acquitted of all charges. Seven of the men are planning to appeal the verdict. The drugs were found hidden inside a car belonging to a well-known company.
