Dammam, Sep 14: Eid ul Fitr (marking the conclusion of Ramadan month) or Eid ul Adha (festival of
sacrifice or Hajj as shown by Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) are the only festivals in Islam, which are being celebrated by Muslims in Hijri month 10 and 12 respectively.
Muslims around the corner including Muslims in Saudi Arabia--both citizens and expatriates-have already celebrated Eid-Ul-Fitr festival with colorful programmes and functions. Eidghas and Mosques throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia were packed out with the prayers. Eid ul Fitr is one of the two religious festivals of Muslims, which is being celebrated on the first of Shawwal month of hijri, when crescent is seen on the last of Ramadan. If the crescent (hilal) is seen in the end of Ramadan, that means it is the ending of Ramadan month and starting of Shawwal.
Muslims keep fast throughout the month of Ramadan and they celebrate Eid when Ramadan ends. Various Eid programmes were conducted by the people of different region in India including Mangaloreans. Several Mangalorean Muslims’ organizations in the Kingdom celebrated their EID festival with colorful functions followed.
As usual, Karnataka Salafi Association, Dammam-Khobar Unit conducted its Eid Koota - 1431 (Eid
gathering) with a variety of programmes both for children and adults. Children showed their talent and skills through various activities like calling Adhan, Islamic speeches, reciting of Qur’aan and Quiz among others. Ladies were also given opportunities to hone their talent through various Islamic contests.
All the winners and other participants were given prizes. Written quiz papers on Islamic subject were
distributed to the contestants during the Ramadan to submit them on or before the 25th Ramamdan. Accordingly, those who won the quiz contest were conferred with fabulous prizes.
Karnataka Salafi Association President and Daee of Islamic Dawa’ah & Guidance Center-Dammam Hyder Ullal addressed the audience and said “Tauheed is the source of Islam, we should not compromise with the basic concept of Islam at any cost ; we should present Islam as it is to others so that they can understand and differentiate what is right and what is wrong,".
Secretary M S Abdul Majeed, Daee Ali Umer Muloor, Shakir Ullal from Riyadh Salafi Unit among others was present.
The year’s specialty of Ramadan was that it was too scorching hot in the gulf countries especially in Saudi Arabia, whereas too rainy in India and other parts of the world.
