MUSCAT, Jul 30 (Times of Oman): While Muscat experienced a cloudy and a breezy day, light rains fell yesterday in the wilayats of Sur, Ja’alan Bani Bu Ali, Al Kamil Wa Al Wafi, Ja’alan Bani Bu Hassan and Masirah in the Al Sharqiyah Region.
“I was hoping it would rain a little and give us some respite from the summer heat,” said a resident of Muscat.
Met department sources said, the cloudy and hazy weather condition in Muscat could have been due to the rains in the adjoining regions of the capital.
Light rains fell in the villages of Sheya’a, Al Ayga, Al Souq, Al Sharja, Al Kahrba, Sanaislah, Huseeniyah and Jabal Eid affiliated to the wilayat of Sur, Tawi Aisha, Tawi Hatem, Hadri Bilad, Al Wafi, Al Mamourah, Al Nahda, Saih Al Salb, Al Rumailah and Al Mansooriyah in the wilayat of Al Kamil Wa Al Wafi.

Light rains also fell in the villages of Saih Al Alaa, Saih Sandah, Saih Al Arshan, Al Qarha, Al Jahla, Al Zabad, Falaij, Teebah, Al Loyah, Al Jawabi and Wadi Sa’al in the wilayat of Ja’alan Bani Bu Ali, Hisn Al Mashayakh, Al Saih Al Sharqi and Al Souq in the wilayat of Ja’alan Bani Bu Hassan. Light rains also fell in the wilayat of Masirah.
According to the Met department in the next two days you can expect cloudy skies along the coastal areas of Muhafadhat Dhofar and adjoining mountains with intermittent drizzle occasionally associated with rain.
Weathermen say that hazy and clear to partly cloudy skies over the rest of the Sultanate with chance of isolated rain over Al Sharqiyah and Al Wusta regions and chance of convective clouds development and thundershowers over Al Hajar mountains and adjoining areas towards afternoon can be expected in the next two days.
