Mumbai: Transporters protest toll hike by govt

Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai

Mumbai, Nov 21: After the government decided to hike toll upto 10 percent for heavy commercial vehicles, transporters across the state are protesting the decision.

Bal Malkit Singh of All India Motors said, "The road fraternity strongly objects to the hike. During tough times due to Covid-19, the decision is misplaced and unwarranted."

He further added saying that commercial vehicles operators were suffering due to a side in business, rising operation cost and dwindling freight. "Operators are under severe financial strain and the decision does not augur well for their sustenance. The government provided relief to light vehicles considering their plight, but heavy vehicle operators too have suffered," Singh said.
