Constitution Day celebrated at St Philomena Autonomous College, Puttur

Puttur Nov 27: NSS, NCC, and the Fine & Performing Arts Association, St Philomena College (Autonomous), observed Constitution Day on November 26 at Spandana Seminar Hall. The event was organized to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India, a cornerstone of the democratic framework of the nation.

Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, principal of the college, administered the constitutional oath to the students. In his presidential address, he highlighted the importance of constitutional principles and obligations in creating a just society. He remarked, ‘Unity, uniformity, and adherence to law and order add immense value to individual lives. As citizens of this great country, we must uphold the values of the constitution and abide by its rules to build a welfare society.’

The programme began with a prayer recital by students from the performing arts association. Dr Chandrashekar K, NSS programme officer, delivered the introductory remarks, emphasizing the significance of ‘Sambividhan Divas’ and elaborating on the essence of the constitution, often referred to as its ‘soul.’ The event also featured active participation from the Fine & Performing Arts Association. Prashantha Rai, convener of the performing arts association, compered the programme. NCC officer Thejaswi Bhat proposed a vote of thanks.
