Mangaluru, Nov 27: In observance of Constitution Day, the department of political science and human rights education cell organised a webinar titled ‘The living document: understanding the constitution's role today’ on November 26.
The purpose of the webinar was to educate participants about the significance of the constitution, its historical context, and the rights and responsibilities it confers upon citizens. The event aimed to engage a diverse audience in meaningful discussions surrounding constitutional values and contemporary issues related to governance.
Muni Chowdappa, assistant professor, department of public administration, Jyoti Nivas College, Bengaluru, was the resource person for the webinar. The session began with a warm welcome and an introduction to the theme of the webinar with the song of preamble.
The speaker enlightened the audience about the evolution of constitutional law, the importance of right, freedom and current challenges in upholding constitutional principles. The webinar attracted a total of 51 participants, including students of St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru and Jyoti Nivas (Autonomous) College Bengaluru.
The webinar ended up with a vote of thanks. The programme was held under the guidance of the staff co-ordinator Gayathri BK, HOD, department of political science and Pooja Shetty, convenor, human rights education cell.
