Puttur: Anti-drug abuse awareness programme at St Philomena PU College

Puttur, Nov 27: An awareness programme on anti-drug abuse was organized at St Philomena PU College, Puttur, on November 26.

The president, Fr Ashok Rayan Crasta, principal of St Philomena PU College, Puttur, encouraged students to focus on academic excellence, good behavior, and extracurricular activities while urging them to avoid drug addiction and make their families and institution proud.

The chief guest, Anjaneya Reddy, sub-inspector of Puttur City Police Station, highlighted the alarming rise of drug addiction among youth. He emphasized the importance of awareness programmes in schools and colleges, adding that peer pressure, curiosity, and lack of awareness often drive young people to indulge in drug use, which can lead to brain damage, deteriorating health, and a vicious cycle of addiction.

The guest, Krishnappa, assistant sub-inspector of Puttur City Police Station, was also present on the occasion.

Sathyalatha Rai M, department of English, proposed the vote of thanks. Suma D, department of English, compered the programme and welcomed the gathering.
