Mangaluru, Nov 18: Children’s Day was celebrated across the country on November 14, the birth anniversary of the first prime minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
'The best way to make children good is to make them happy'- Oscar Wilde. To make the students of Lourdes Central School (LCS) happy and to make them feel their importance in the family, school and society and to inculcate values in them, the school celebrated this day in a unique way. If we take a trip down to our memory lane, we know how the LCS REGALE was held every year. On this auspicious day, children with their family members danced, played and enjoyed the international cuisine at LCS campus. Indeed, it was a fun-filled day. However, due to the pandemic, LCS had to think of alternatives.
The principal, Fr Robert D'Souza left no stone unturned. He along with his team brought out their innovative ideas. Thus, a week-long celebration as 'LCS children’s week -2020' was virtually organized from November 9 to 14.
There is no garden as beautiful as children and to show them their love and affection, the staff of LCS presented songs, skits, dances as well as virtual tours.
Besides, many activities and competitions were conducted for the students and also e-certificates were awarded to the winners and participants.
A major programme was virtually held on November 13 which began with a prayer song by the staff and welcome address by the vice-principal, Belita Mascarehnas. The manager of LCS, Fr Dr J B Saldanha and the principal greeted the Lourdites and conveyed their message.
Manager, Fr Dr J B Saldanha made the students feel special by quoting the words of the famous poet, Rabindranath Tagore, 'Every child brought into this world shows us that God truly loves humanity'. He further said that it is in the children we truly experience God’s love and enjoy blessings and joy through great experiences that we have in living with the children. In addition to this, he also said that protecting the rights of the children must be a major concern in India and the Government of India as well as all of us need to think over seriously about it.
Fr Robert D'Souza said in his message that children are precious gifts of God to their family, school and society. He blessed them with peace and love.
The staff of LCS performed dances gracefully and sang melodious songs. The committee co-ordinator, Deepa D'Souza and Linet D'Souza compered the programme and also delivered the vote of thanks.
We thank Fr Robert D'Souza, the vice-principal, Belita Macarenhas and the organizing committee members for planning the programme meticulously. The students and the parents are thanked for their cooperation.
