Mangaluru, Nov 17: An art exhibition ‘Art Showcase – More than Scribbles’ was held by CFAL and ELC in association with Mandala Art Cafe as part of their children’s day activities. The exhibition featured more than 100 art pieces like painting, science models, sculptures made majorly by the students and alumni of the institution. Santhosh D Andrade, a renowned contemporary artist was the judge for the event.
Students put up their artistic acumen on display. The event by CFAL/ELC was an attempt to promote creativity among students, as they have been indoors since a very long time due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The student artists were able to create dramatic images, telling a story that was uniquely their own. The budding artists had explored a wide range of media, from crayons and papier-mâché to performance art and collage.
Many works reflected their personal experiences being stuck at home, separated from friends and attending school online in the age of self-isolation. Some images are made as thank-you to doctors and healthcare workers, or to express how much the artists miss going to school. As Children’s’ Day coincided with Diwali this year, the premises were lit with diyas and lights. The sparkling diyas, colourful torans and glittering rangolis added charm and radiance to the premises. Keeping with the festivities, the little ones came dressed in ethnic wear.
