New Delhi, Apr 23: In a move aimed at strengthening India’s healthcare workforce, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, in collaboration with the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP), launched competency-based curricula for 10 allied and healthcare professions on Wednesday.
The revised curricula are designed to produce globally competent professionals capable of meeting the rising demand for healthcare services and tackling the increasing burden of diseases.

Health Secretary Punya Salila Srivastava emphasized the government’s commitment to building a skilled healthcare workforce, noting that the standardized curricula will ensure consistency in education and training. “India is skilling its healthcare professionals not just for India, but for the globe,” she said.
The initiative focuses on aligning education with industry needs, improving skill-based training, and enhancing professional mobility and recognition. Srivastava highlighted that institutional support, faculty training, and infrastructure development will be key to successful implementation.
Digital modules of the curricula will be crowdsourced and made widely accessible to support capacity building under the Swastha Bharat vision.
NCAHP Chairperson Dr Yagna Unmesh Shukla described the launch as a major step toward realizing the vision of ‘One Nation, One Curriculum’, adding that this marks just the first phase of the rollout.
The updated curricula align with regulatory norms under the NCAHP Act, 2021, ensuring national standards across allied health education.
