Mangaluru, Oct 24: St. Aloysius College (Autonomous), here, in association with Radio Sarang 107.8 FM and STRIDE Scheme of UGC is organising Yakshagana Thalamaddale titled 'Anaatha Ajeya' which is based on the singular tale of Ekalavya on Wednesday October 28 at the L F Rasquinha Hall, LCRI block between 2.30 pm and 5.00 pm.
Eminent Yakshagana Bhagavats like Kavya Shri Nayak Ajeru, Chaitanya Krishna Padyana and Sridhara Vittal will be performing in the Himmela. Veteran artiste and known as the Decathlon of Yakshagana, Surikumer K Govind Bhat and Mathina Malla Jabbar Samo from Sampaje will perform in Mummela.
The principal of the college, Fr Dr Praveen Martis said, “St Aloysius College has always been a center of literary and cultural activities. Yakshagana is the great art of coastal Karnataka. Though there is Covid-19 pandemic, we are hosting this program as we have to be constantly in the educational institutions to stimulate such vibrant art of our soil.”
The rector of St Aloysius Institutions, Fr Melwin Joseph Pinto SJ, controller of examinations, Dr Alwyn DSa, director of Radio Sarang, Fr Dr Melwyn Pinto SJ, director of various blocks, deans, heads of different departments and professors will be present at the event.
This programme is also open to the public.
