Udupi, Jul 12: Soon after a group of social workers put up banners highlighting the poor drainage system at Kukkikatte main road of 76 Badagabettu village here, the administration swung into action.
Ansar Ahmed of Udupi and his team came up with a novel idea of displaying banners highlighting the plight of the public with regard to the improper drainage system of Kukkikatte main road.
Two banners were put up on the morning of Saturday, July 11 by Ansar Ahmed and team. The banner also had names of elected representatives of Indiranagar and Chitpady wards.
Within hours of displaying of banner, Krishnaraja Kodancha, city municipality member of Chitpady ward called up Ansar Ahmed and said that he will look into the issue. He also kept his promise and sent a team of workers in order to remove the mud from the drainage. By evening of Saturday around 60% of work was completed. He has also assured that the remaining work would be completed on Monday, July 13.
Ansar Ahmed and team has thanked Krishnaraja Kodancha, who responded immediately to their request of clearing the mud from the jammed drainage. However, the elected representative of Indiranagar ward did not respond to the appeal so far. If the drainage system of Indiranagar ward is not set right by July 18, Ansar Ahmed and team has decided to get the same corrected by themselves.
