Mumbai: Vicky Kaushal pays tribute at Raigad Fort on Chhatrapati Shivaji Jayanti

Mumbai, Feb 19: Vicky Kaushal is earning widespread acclaim for his portrayal of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in the historical drama Chhaava. In a recent gesture to honor the legacy of the Maratha rulers, Vicky visited the iconic Raigad Fort on the occasion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's birth anniversary.

The actor, who had never visited the fort before, shared his experience with his fans on Instagram, describing it as an emotional moment. "Today on the occasion of #ChhatrapatiShivajiJayanti, I had the good fortune of paying my respects at #RaigadFort. It was my first time here, and there couldn’t have been a better time to come and take blessings from Maharaj," he posted. He continued, "Wishing you all a heartfelt Chhatrapati Shivaji Jayanti! Hail Jijau, Hail Shivray, Hail Shambhu!"

Vicky was joined by Maharashtra's Women and Child Development Minister, Aditi Tatkare, during his visit to the fort, which holds historical significance as the capital of the Maratha Empire.

In addition to his visit, Vicky Kaushal's performance in Chhaava has been lauded by fellow actors. Alia Bhatt recently expressed her admiration for Vicky’s portrayal of the Maratha king. Taking to Instagram Stories, Alia shared a photo of Vicky from the film, writing, "Vicky Kaushal! What are you???? Cannot get over your performance in Chhaava! @vickykaushal."

Chhaava, which was released on February 14, 2025, features Vicky Kaushal in the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, with an ensemble cast including Rashmika Mandanna, Akshaye Khanna, Ashutosh Rana, Divya Dutta, and Diana Penty. The film is based on the Marathi novel Chhava by Shivaji Sawant and is produced by Maddock Films. Music for the film is composed by the legendary A.R.
