Bengaluru, Feb 21: Eleven individuals were arrested in Bengaluru for performing dangerous bike stunts, brandishing swords and machetes, and creating panic under the pretext of celebrating the holy festival Shab-e-Barat.

The police have seized seven bikes and launched a manhunt for the remaining accused involved in the incident, which has raised concerns about safety and lawlessness.

Speaking to the media, DCP (East) D. Devaraja explained that Shab-e-Barat, celebrated on February 13, is a sacred occasion when people visit burial grounds to pray for their elders. To ensure peace and security, elaborate arrangements were made from Tannery Road Junction to Nagawara Junction.

However, a group of 11 to 15 individuals, originating from the D.J. Halli and K.G. Halli areas, reportedly moved towards the Outer Ring Road, Ramamurthy Nagar, K.R. Puram, and Avalahalli. There, they performed dangerous stunts on their bikes, wielded machetes, and filmed their activities. One of the suspects uploaded a video of the stunt on Instagram.

“We have registered a case under the Arms Act at the D.J. Halli police station. So far, we have arrested 11 individuals and seized seven bikes. Some of the accused have gone into hiding, but we will apprehend them within a day or two,” said DCP Devaraja.

The DCP strongly condemned the acts, emphasising the spiritual nature of Shab-e-Barat. “Such acts of terrorising people on the roads in the name of celebration are unacceptable. We will take strict action to deter young people from engaging in such behaviour,” Devaraja added.

In response to the disturbing behaviour, State Home Minister G. Parameshwara stated, “This is against the law, and the police will take appropriate action. The individuals involved will be arrested and booked under relevant sections.”

He further reiterated that those responsible would be prosecuted. “We will not allow anyone to take the law into their own hands. We are always vigilant and take necessary action against such incidents,” he said.

The ongoing investigation aims to ensure that such incidents do not recur, with authorities taking a firm stand on maintaining public order and safety.

Well done. These are not part of Islam, neither permitted by law. No one should be allowed to posses or use dangerous weapons without permission.

Most of these thugs have not bought their motor cycles/scooters from their hard earned salary. They are given these bikes by their parents/rich uncles. Put them behind bars for 2 years with hard labour. All stunt will stop.
