Mangaluru, Jun 26: All type of vehicular movement on the highway stretch between B C Road and Jakribettu is prohibited from June 26 to July 28 as the same stretch will be concretized. This order was taken out by deputy commissioner (DC) of Dakshina Kannada district Sindhu B Rupesh.
During this period, light vehicles like car, jeep, minivan, two wheelers and ambulances plying between Mangaluru and Punjalakatte should use Mangaluru, B C Road, Bantwal Market and Jakribettu road. Vehicles which commute from Moodbidri, Bantwal towards B C Road are ordered to move one national highway 234 to Jakribettu, Bantwal Market and B C Road.
Public buses which ply daily between Mangaluru-Guruvayanakere are instructed to use national highway 234, means they have to move via Mangaluru-B C Road-Uppinangady and use alternate route of Karaya-Kalleri-Guruvayanakere. Similarly vehicles coming to Mangaluru from Guruvayanakere should move via Guruvayanakere-Kalleri-Karyaya-Uppinangady-Mani-B C Road to Mangaluru.
The movement of heavy vehicles like tankers, ship cargo containers, heavy commercial vehicles, multi-axle trucks and Rajahamsa buses is completely prohibited on the mentioned stretch till July 28.
National Highway department had appealed to the DC to prohibit vehicular movement as time was needed to complete the concretization work of the highway.
