Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 15: As many as 23 five new cases of novel coronavirus were reported in Dakshina Kannada, while two new cases were detected in Udupi on Monday June 15. As many as five and 31 people who recovered were discharged in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts respectively.
In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 45,295 people have been screened so far including 174 on Monday. A total of 10,985 samples have been sent for tests so far, out of which 10,422 have tested negative, and 299 positive, including 10 persons from other districts. Out of these, 123 are currently active. As many as 158 persons have recovered and been discharged, and eight deaths have occurred so far.
Five patients were discharged from Wenlock on Monday. Those include four males aged 20, 25, 43 and 52, and one 11-year-old girl.
Two male patients aged 52 and 70 are serious and being treated in the ICU.
As many as 83 samples were sent for testing on Monday. Reports of 170 samples were received on Monday, out of which 23 tested positive and the rest negative. Reports of 277 samples are awaited.
In Dakshina Kannada, among the 23 patients, 19 are males and four females. As many as 22 have come from Saudi Arabia, while the remaining one male patient has contracted infection from P-5066, a male patient, who was admitted to private hospital due to some ailment and was tested positive on June 6.
As many as 28 persons were admitted on Monday for observation.
A total of 5,706 people have been treated at fever clinics so far. On Monday, 28 cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) were reported.
Udupi
Two cases were reported in Udupi on Monday. Both patients are females. While one of them is a Maharashtra returnee, the other one has contracted the infection from P-5451 who was tested positive. She is said to be relative of a lab technician who was tested positive earlier.
As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 4,776 people have completed 28 days of quarantine including seven on Monday, and a total of 4,856 have completed 14 days of quarantine. As many as 486 persons are currently in home quarantine. As many as two high-risk patients are under hospital quarantine.
A total of 81 people are in isolation wards, including eight fresh admissions on Monday. Among them, one is a coronavirus suspect, while six have SARI and one influenza-like illness.
As many as 854 people, including six on Monday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
A total of 12,915 samples have been collected so far, including eight on Monday. Out of them, 11,835 samples have turned out to be negative, including 57 on Monday, and 52 reports are awaited. As many as 1,028 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district. As many as 820 patients have been discharged including 31 on Monday, and 207 cases are active. One death has occurred so far.
