Bengaluru, Jun 5: By way of clarification aimed at putting to rest all kinds of suspicions and speculations, minister for primary and secondary education, S Suresh Kumar, stressed that the government is not in any hurry to open schools in the state. He added that the government has not so far issued any order towards this end.
The minister gave this information with reference to discussions on social media about the schools reopening, on the basis of a circular issued by the department. He said that the central government has asked the states to hold discussions with parents and others connected with the issue and send the crux of the opinion so collected by July. "Therefore, the department has issued circular asking schools to pool opinions between June 10 and 12. Our aim was to guide the headmasters and School Development and Monitoring Committees towards this end and not for reopening of schools," he stated.

The minister noted that there are many who do not want the schools to be reopened till the coronavirus fear dies down, while the others are afraid that the children might forget the habit of attending schools. He however, promised that the government will always be sensitive to the concerns of the parents.
