Kundapur, May 31: In some happy news, 14 patients who recovered from coronavirus were discharged from Kundapur government hospital here on Sunday May 31. All of them were gifted bouquets by corona nodal officer and the corona warriors.

The coronavirus section of Kundapur government hospital had 78 patients of which 14 people were tested negative including three kids. They were discharged on Sunday evening. They were bid farewell with bouquets as good wished by health officials.

District health officer (DHO) Dr Sudhir Chandra Sooda said coronavirus cases are increasing in Udupi, and the health department has made all required arrangements to battle the virus. "For the first time 14 people have recovered and sent back home. There is no reason to fear the coronavirus pandemic. All should follow the rules laid down by the government," he said.

"The 14 patients discharged today are not allowed to leave their homes for 14 days. After 14 days they will have to undergo the test again," he added.

District nodal officer Prashanth said, "In the coming days patients will be discharged from Udupi and Karkala taluks as well. I congratulate the doctors and other staff who are taking care of coronavirus patients."

Other officials present were taluk health officer Dr Nagbhushan Udupa, nodal officer Premanand, Kundapur taluk coronavirus nodal officer Dr Nagesh, Kundapur taluk health officer Robert Rebello, Dr Sujatha, Dr Udayshankar, SI Harish from Kundapur police station, Hussain Haikadi of Jaycees Kundapur, and staff of the hospital.
