Mangaluru/Udupi, May 19: No new cases of novel coronavirus were reported in Dakshina Kannada (DK), while five fresh cases were detected in Udupi on Tuesday May 19.
In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 41,577 people have been screened so far, including 230 on Tuesday. As many as 18 people are currently admitted in NIT-K Suratkal quarantine facility. Another 14 are quarantined in ESI hospital.
As many 6,073 people have completed 28 days of quarantine.
A total of 5,418 samples have been sent for tests so far, out of which reports of 5,065 tested negative, and 54 positive, out of which 32 are currently active. As many as 17 persons have recovered and been discharged, and five deaths have occurred so far.
Out of the 54 positive cases, 48 are from Dakshina Kannada and six patients are from other districts.
As many as 267 samples were sent for testing on Tuesday. Reports of 97 samples were received on Tuesday which were all negative.
Reports of 299 samples are awaited. As many as 13 people have been admitted for observation.
A total of 3,578 people have been treated at fever clinics so far. On Tuesday, seven cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) were reported.
A total of 21,859 migrant workers from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan and Jharkhand have been sent home by special Shramik trains.
Udupi
As reported earlier, four people who had returned from Mumbai and another girl from Chitradurga tested positive for coronavirus on Tuesday. The patients have been identified as three males aged 8, 24 and 38 and two females aged 17 and 24.
As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 3,326 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 75 on Tuesday, and a total of 4,099 have completed 14 days of quarantine, including 106 on Tuesday. As many as 424 persons are currently in home quarantine.
Altogether, 52 high-risk persons and four low-risk persons are under hospital quarantine. A total of 87 people are in isolation wards, including 16 fresh admissions on Tuesday. Among them, seven are coronavirus suspect, while seven others have SARI and two influenza-like illness.
As many as 534 people, including 11 on Tuesday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
A total of 2,692 samples have been collected so far, including 222 on Tuesday, among whom 46 are coronavirus contacts. Out of them, 2,022 samples have turned out to be negative, and 654 reports are awaited. Sixteen confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, including a death. Three have recovered, and 12 are active.
