Mangaluru: Woman loses life in tipper-motorbike collision

Mangaluru, May 8: Shashikala (44), wife of Manjunath Acharya, lost her life after a tipper truck hit the motorbike on which she was seated on Thursday May 7. The motorbike was being ridden by Manjunath Acharya, who has been admitted into a hospital with serious injuries.

The accident occurred near Bajpe check post on Mangaluru-Bajpe state highway 67. The tipper was moving towards the city while the motorbike was moving towards Bajpe from Jokatte.

Manjuath Acharya and his wife lived in a rented house at Jokatte. The couple has two sons. The couple was moving towards Shashikala's parental home near Bajple Bhajana Mandir on some purpose when the accident happened.

The wheels of the tipper moved over the head of Shashikala after she fell down on the road. As a result, she died on the spot. Bajpe police who have registered a case, are investigating.

    Safety is a personal trait .. depends on ones thinking and quality of our surroundings and education.

    Though accidents can happen ,In India its due to callous attitude and unscientific planning of roads ..and pedestrian crossings etc..
    Maybe these 2 where indulged in some personal serious discussion while driving ..and forgot to see the obvious..

    We people of this great nation take everything for-granted including our own lives. There is no point in blaming government, RTO, condition of roads and safety standards of our vehicles, our driving habits and so on, until we ourselves learn to change our thinking on safety of our own selves and lives of others around us. These kind of accidents and deaths will continue to happen and no one cares damn about it and only sufferers will be the victims family. The way many of our people drive on our roads as if there will not be a tomorrow to drive....RIP to the deceased soul.

    RIP Ms. Shashikala.
    In general during and after lockdown it is visible that most of the vehicles are not following the traffic rules. Two wheeler riders are wearing mask but no Helmets. Most of the 2 wheeler riders and autorikshaws are not using the rear view mirrors. Suddenly they are switching the tracks without indicator signal also.

    Some tippers body design fails the driver to have a proper vision RTO must look in to the maters because most of the road causalities are between tipper and motorcycle

    Sir tipper are designed as per engineering specs but nobody blames the two wheeler first whether the rider wearing helmet not mentioned in the news, it was an head collision the impact is so high by the rider he gets serious injuries pillion loses the balance and gets under the wheels speed is the main criteria, roads traffic free due to lockdown and last alcohol test you may be surprised by this word but I have personally seen lot of two wheelers occurs due to this do not think family is with them after the liquor stores opened lot of two wheelers drive with high spirits which police are not bothered
