New Delhi, Feb 24: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday accused the previous AAP government of leaving the state treasury "empty" but reaffirmed the BJP’s commitment to implementing the Rs 2,500-per-month honorarium for eligible women.
Addressing a press conference alongside Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva after a legislative party meeting, Gupta revealed that multiple discussions with officials had been held in the past four days to assess the financial situation.

"When we review the state finances, the exchequer is found empty. But providing financial aid to women is our commitment, and we will implement it 1,000% with proper planning," she asserted.
The Mahila Samriddhi Yojana, a key BJP poll promise, is estimated to benefit around 38 lakh women, excluding taxpayers, government employees, and beneficiaries of other schemes. The initiative is expected to cost over Rs 11,000 cr annually.
Gupta also announced that the Delhi Assembly’s first session under her leadership will commence on Monday with the election of the speaker and deputy speaker, followed by discussions on development projects. She emphasized that the session would prioritize tabling the pending CAG reports, holding the previous government accountable for alleged financial mismanagement.
Meanwhile, BJP’s Virendra Sachdeva dismissed former CM Atishi’s defense regarding CAG report procedures, accusing AAP of "habitual lies." He assured that the BJP government is focused on making Delhi a "Viksit Rajdhani" (Developed Capital) and fulfilling all electoral commitments.
The three-day assembly session will conclude on Thursday.
