Kundapur, May 6: Speaking on the threat calls she is reportedly receiving from abroad, MP Shobha Karandlaje said on Wednesday, May 6 said, "Investigation needs to be done on the threat calls that I have been receiving from overseas. I have already filed a complaint and also spoken to DG & IGP Praveen Sood and sent him the number from which I have received the threat. When I was standing near the house of Padiyar, I got a call a little while ago, but I did not pick the call.
"I have been receiving such internet calls since two years. Their frequency has increased in the past few months. Even when Annamalai was the superintendent of police of Udupi, I had raised a complaint in this regard with him. I used to speak against Popular Front of India (PFI) during that time with regards to the killing of Hindu youths in various parts of the state. When I spoke against SDPI also, I received threat calls.
"Recently when I started speaking against Tablighi convention, the frequency of calls have increased considerably. I receive around 20 to 25 internet calls per day now. This has further increased after a youth from Kerala was slapped by ‘Jihadis’ in Kuwait. I also wrote a letter to union home minister Amit Shah about the incident. So this needs to be investigated.
"I have raised this issue in Delhi also that these internet calls should be tracked. I have also informed the matter Karnataka police and have sent them the numbers.
"I am not scared about these calls. Wherever I go, I have my party workers. They are the biggest security to me. Compared to the population of our state, the number of police are very less. During crisis time like floods and coronavirus, the need of police is more. That is why I have not taken gunmen from the government. On the contrary, I have returned two gunmen, who were provided to me by the government. Our people and workers of my party are my biggest protectors,” she said.
