Mangaluru/Udupi, May 6: Three people tested positive for coronavirus in Dakshina Kannada on Wednesday, May 6. No new cases were reported in Udupi.
As reported earlier, three persons who belong to Boloor and Bantwal were tested positive for coronavirus infection. While an 11-year-old girl and a 38-year-old woman who contracted the infection from a woman who had contact with First Neuro Hospital, identified as P-536. The 16-year-old daughter of a woman from Bantwal who succumbed to the virus, identified as P-390, also tested positive today.
A 39-year-old man from Uppinangady who had come from Delhi, and tested positive for coronavirus on April 13, has cured and was discharged.
In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 40,303 people have been screened so far, including 79 on Wednesday. Twenty-eight people are at NIT-K Suratkal quarantine facility while five from there have been sent for home quarantine. Another 40 people are currently quarantined in ESI hospital.
As many 6,073 people have completed 28 days of quarantine.
A total of 3,916 samples have been sent for tests so far, out of which reports of 3,699 samples have been received. Out of these, 3,671 have tested negative, 28 positive, and 12 are currently active. Thirteen people have recovered and been discharged, and three deaths have occurred so far.
Out of the 28 positive cases, 19 patients are of Dakshina Kannada, one each from Bhatkal and Udupi, and four from Kerala.
As many as 137 samples were sent for testing on Wednesday. Reports of 88 samples were received on Wednesday out of which 85 were negative and three positive.
Reports of 217 samples are awaited. As many as 27 persons have been admitted for observation.
A total of 2,518 people have been treated at fever clinics so far, and 50 screened via mobile clinics. On Wednesday, seven cases of severe acute respiratory illness were reported.
In Udupi, a total of 2,417 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 28 on Wednesday, and a total of 3,278 have completed 14 days of quarantine, including 31 on Wednesday. As many as 666 persons are currently in home quarantine.
Altogether, 16 high-risk persons and 13 low-risk persons are under hospital quarantine. A total of 48 people are in isolation wards, including 11 fresh admissions on Wednesday. One among them is a coronavirus suspect, while others have SARI or influenza-like illness.
As many as 393 people, including eight on Wednesday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
A total of 1,357 samples have been collected so far, including 63 on Wednesday. Out of them, 1,243 samples have turned out to be negative, and 111 reports are awaited. Altogether, three people who had tested positive earlier have all recovered and been sent home.
