Mangaluru May 5: With the government finally allowing migrant workers to return to their hometowns after 40 days of a nationwide lockdown to contain the spread of the coronavirus, many have by now reached their destinations.
Similarly, migrant workers who were willing to go their respective hometowns were asked by the district administration to gather at Goldfinch City at Kulur on Tuesday, May 5. Chaos prevailed at the site after the watchman deployed at the ground denied entry to the migrant workers. The workers who were agitated, held protest at the spot.
Congress MLA U T Khader, MLC Ivan D’Souza, former MLA Mohiuddin Bava, and Youth Congress leader Mithun Rai rushed to the spot when they came to know of the situation.
Officials and tasildhar were taken to task by Khader for the situation. They also condemned the government for the confusion.
KSRTC and labour officials arrived to the spot who made arrangements of buses and sent over 1,000 labourers back to their respective destinations.
