Mangaluru: Chaos at Goldfinch City after migrant labourers told to assemble, then denied entry

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (ANK)

Mangaluru May 5: With the government finally allowing migrant workers to return to their hometowns after 40 days of a nationwide lockdown to contain the spread of the coronavirus, many have by now reached their destinations.

Similarly, migrant workers who were willing to go their respective hometowns were asked by the district administration to gather at Goldfinch City at Kulur on Tuesday, May 5. Chaos prevailed at the site after the watchman deployed at the ground denied entry to the migrant workers. The workers who were agitated, held protest at the spot.

Congress MLA U T Khader, MLC Ivan D’Souza, former MLA Mohiuddin Bava, and Youth Congress leader Mithun Rai rushed to the spot when they came to know of the situation.

Officials and tasildhar were taken to task by Khader for the situation. They also condemned the government for the confusion.

KSRTC and labour officials arrived to the spot who made arrangements of buses and sent over 1,000 labourers back to their respective destinations.

Congress leaders who were at the spot arranged food for the labourers.

Lock down decision was bold and good but NOT SUDDEN one without giving at least one week notice.
It is the root cause for all sorts of chaos trauma to migrant jobless laborers, tourists and students, perishable goods stockist shop keepers, hoteliers and also to administrators.

Many lessons need to be learnt from Corona Virus era
1). Trust & employ the local manpower, Labourers.
2). Start producing the required medical équipments locally, don't depend on any other country. Country like ours is depending on other countries for masks & sanitizers, unbelievable...
3). Youngesters who left their agricultural property need to start agricultural production. Farmers only can keep everybody alive, no other luxury will keep you alive.
4). People should need to search for local Employment/ business whether it's big or small.
5). Always make a habbit of savings to overcome a disaster like this.
6). Start health clinics in each & every village.
7). Respect the nature & the animals.
