Udupi, May 5: Issuing a clarification on an audio clip which went viral on Monday, Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje on Tuesday, May 5, said that she was busy serving the people of her constituency from the past 45 days without a single day’s rest.
MP Shobha via video addressed the people on the contributions of her party for the betterment of people. She pointed out that even though the city has been provided relaxation amid lockdown, she has not opted for the same. She maintained that she aims to work tirelessly for the underprivileged sections of the society by providing them economic relief.
Clarifying on the audio which went viral she requested people to consider both sides of the story. She spoke about an incident where a Hindu Kerala driver was assaulted by those following ‘Jihad’ and how she worked to provide him much needed support. However, the MP claimed that she is being continuously harassed by ‘Jihadis’. She further claimed to have been receiving threats from people from different Middle Eastern countries and abusive messages over a long period of time.
MP Shobha asserted that she always worked to honour the code of ethics she believes and makes conscious efforts to not disappoint people. She also stated that for several years now she has been threatened by ‘Jihadis’ and although she has reached out to the police and the Centre regarding the same, there has been minimal progress in nabbing the accused.
It may be recalled, a citizen had contacted MP Shobha seeking some clarification over the fixing of lockdown timing in Udupi district. Shobha admitted that she was not aware, and the audio went viral in the social media soon after.
