Bhatkal, Apr 25: In an incident that occurred in the town, a woman delivered baby in an auto rickshaw, as her family’s repeated calls for ambulance did not receive quick response. This is the second incident of such nature in this town since lockdown was implemented in the country.

Razmiya (24), wife of Ibrahim Khalil Hader Sab, resident of Arshiya colony, Heble, Jamia Abad Road is the lady who was delivered the baby in the auto-rickshaw allegedly due to the apathy of the administration.

The family members of the woman called the ambulance three hours before the time of delivery. The concerned health professional took all the details of the lady including address and said that the ambulance will arrive at their place shortly. However, even after waiting for three hours the ambulance did not turn up.

The family called for an auto rickshaw. The person denied taking the woman citing lockdown as reason and he does not carry a pass. Later, one auto rickshaw driver agreed to take the woman to the hospital, though he was not having a pass. The woman delivered the baby right inside the auto-rickshaw after it entered the hospital compound.

Both mother and child are healthy. This is the second incident of this kind in the town that has happened due to apathy of administration. In the first case, a woman had to deliver the baby at home after repeated calls for ambulance went unanswered. The baby and the mother were then shifted in an ambulance to a private hospital.

What a luck lady had normal delivery without any complications.Hope both are healthy.same time should appriciate the ricksha driver who came forward to help to the pregnent woman with all Bandhs .Thats the real help one can do in emergency. This Corona has made many peoples life difficult, but more our govt.I can only suggest people at home where pregnent women are there, kindly apply for a pass previously with a vehicle to take ,where ambulance entrance is difficult .(roads are not good)Even in Europe one can take private vehicles can be taken for a emergency like to hospital etc.why not in India?

When a lady of Mangalore died of appendicitis in Panvel, Mumbai many had blamed the husband thinking ambulances are always on call, now what happened in Banetwal should be an eyeopener. What happened in Bantwal can happen anywhere!! Ambulances and police are supposed to reach the spot in the shortest possible time but many times I have personally observed that not only the delay, but sometimes they never turn up at all!!
