Mangaluru/Udupi, Apr 23: It was a sad day for Dakshina Kannada (DK) as coronavirus claimed its second victim on Thursday, April 23. No cases were reported in Udupi.
As reported earlier, the 75-year-old woman from Bantwal had tested positive for coronavirus in the morning on Thursday. She passed away in Wenlock hospital late evening. Her daughter-in-law had passed away on April 19 who became the first victim of coronavirus in the district.
As of April 23, a total of 39,355 people have been screened in the district. Fifty people have been quarantined at NITK Surathkal. Ten have been quarantined in ESI hospital. A total of 6,073 people have completed 28 days of quarantine.
A total of 1,615 samples have been sent for tests so far, out of which 1,222 have tested negative and 17 positive. Three cases are currently active, and 12 have been discharged. Two deaths have been reported.
As many as 95 samples were sent on April 23. Out of the reports received today, 213 tested negative and one positive. Reports of 376 samples are awaited.
Thirty-nine persons are admitted for observation. As many as 1,095 patients have been treated at Fever Clinics.
As many as 14 have been diagnosed with severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) today out of which eight cases has been referred to Wenlock hospital.
In Udupi, a total of 1,892 people have completed 28 days of quarantine. A total of 2,371 have completed 14 days of quarantine, including 46 persons on April 23.
As many as 709 persons are presently under home quarantine. As many seven people were admitted to isolation wards on April 23. Altogether, 50 are in isolation wards. A total of 263 persons have been discharged from the isolation wards, including nine on Thursday.
As many as 1,007 samples have been collected so far in the district. On Thursday, 14 samples were collected and sent for testing.
Reports of 26 samples were received on Thursday, which were all negative.
Till now, Udupi district has recorded three coronavirus positive cases who have now recovered and are discharged.
