Udupi, Apr 14: Six people, reportedly travelling from Mumbai in an ambulance, to get one person admitted at Manipal KMC hospital, reached here on Tuesday, April 14. The patient was admitted to district hospital and five others were kept under 28 days quarantine at SDM College, Udyavar.
Deputy commissioner (DC) G Jagadeesh said in a news release that six people left in ambulance from Mumbai to Udupi without permission along with a patient on April 13. They had begun their journey from Mumbai on April 13 at 7 pm and reached for treatment of the patient in Manipal KMC on April 14.

Besides the driver and the patient, there were four assistants in the ambulance. KMC hospital after examination informed the district administration. Those in the ambulance had not obtained prior permission from the government or authority to arrive from Mumbai to Manipal. The patient was then admitted in district hospital and the rest were kept under 28 days quarantine at SDM College, Udyavar.
The entire medical expenses will be borne by the concerned people. Police personnel have taken custody of the vehicle, the DC stated.
