Mangaluru, Apr 13: Continuing with their drive against vehicles which take to roads without any emergency, the police have confiscated a number of vehicles on Monday, April 13. They conducted operations at the Thokkottu flyover and took into possession several vehicles.
Many vehicle owners, not attaching too much importance or seriousness to warnings issued by the police from time to time, are found to be driving around their vehicles for purposes which are not very important. To educate them of the need to minimise social contacts, the people have, since the last some days been seizing vehicles.
On Saturday, in a similar operation, the police had taken into possession 167 vehicles which were taken out of their parking slots for unimportant issues. Several cases have also been registered against the owners of vehicles in various parts of the district after scrutinising documents and verifying the genuineness of reasons put forth by vehicle owners. Cars, auto-rickshaws, and two-wheelers have been seized by the police during these operations, which are being conducted under the direct supervision of city police commissioner Dr P S Harsha. Deputy commissioner of police Laxmi Ganesh and assistant commissioner of police Manjunath Shetty have been actively involved with the operation.
On Friday, 178 vehicles been confiscated by the police for flouting rules.
