Mangaluru, Apr 10: Good Friday, the most important day in the Christian calendar, was observed with solemnity in some parishes here on April 10. The Good Friday mass in churches on account of coronavirus spread has been limited to just five, including the priest and his associates.

The Eucharistic Mass was offered by Bishop Dr Peter Paul Saldanha at Rosario Cathedral in the evening.

Members of the catholic community attended services performed at churches virtually, via local television cable channels, YouTube channels, and living streaming on websites and apps. The city observed the holy occasion of Good Friday to commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, on the Friday before Easter, which is on April 12. Some also observe a fast.

Many people also participate in the church services specifically on the day, but this year as everyone is grounded in their homes they will have to participate in the online streaming of the services.

Services will also be streamed live early morning on Easter Sunday, which calls for a day filled with happiness, joy and celebrations.
