Udupi, Mar 30: Karnataka home minister and Udupi district In-charge minister Basavaraj Bommai, has asked the people to stay put in their homes and help the government in controlling the spread of COVID 19.
In a video released by him, the minister said, "People of Udupi are well educated and responsible. Udupi district has handled the situation with lot of care and compassion. Udupi district deputy commissioner and all the MLAs of the district are cooperating in making arrangements to effectively tackle the pandemic. I have been giving my suggestions to the concerned on a daily basis."
"100-bed COVID hospital has been set up in Dr TMA Pai hospital. 150-bed SDM hospital Udyavar is ready for being put to use as an isolation facility. Three members have been cured and we are keenly observing their condition. All the primary contacts of these persons have also been quarantined. District deputy commissioner is also working very well as per government directions. All our MLAs are helping in providing food to the needy. I request people to support them. I am a member of state level task force and in the coming days I will keep visiting the district," he added.
Many people had expressed their displeasure about the in-charge minister not visiting the district to streamline the arrangements and guide the officials on the issue of coronavirus.
