New Delhi, Mar 28: Karnataka will open the borders including Mangaluru and Kasargod highways that will facilitate movement of essential goods from Kerala.

The decision comes after Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan wrote a letter to the union government in this regard. The Thalassey-Coorg state highway 30 was closed by Karnataka to prevent the coronavirus from spreading in the state. This had affected the movement of goods vehicles to the state of Kerala.

More than 20 police personnel stationed at Talapady junction are stopping vehicles from Kerala. Health officials are examining drivers of trucks that are transporting items of basic needs before allowing them to proceed. Four members of Ullal primary health center along with police personnel are examining people who are arriving from Kerala.

Karnataka decided to open the three routes to Kerala after union minister Sadananada Gowda held talks with chief ministers of both Kerala and Karnataka as well the chief secretaries.

The three routes which will be thrown open to access by Kerala are Mangaluru-Kasargod, Mysuru - Mananthavadi via H D Kote and Gundlupet-Sulthan Battery via Muthanga. However, due to massive protest by public representatives, the Virajpet-Koottupuzha road is still not opened.

The situation in KASARAGOD a lot of gulf returns who tested positive and also their primary contact.

Now talking about critical patients, not the covid patients.. there are patients who travel Mangalore for dialysis.

Pregnant ladies whose dates are near for delivery who have been consulting doctors in Mangalore. What about these cases. ?? At least they should show some humanity. Should test the patient and allow them to reach Mangalore.. leave other cases.

Never expected such a hostile reaction against Malayalis from otherwise friendly Mangaloreans. We all live in an open world and not enclosed places. Moreover all the covid cases reported In Karnataka either came from Dubai, London or North. Still so much hatred. Lot of Mangaloreans live and work in Kerala especially in Kannur and Ernakulam. Some have even put up successful businesses and restaurantshere. And we all frequent those restaurants.

What is the purpose of TOTAL LOCK DOWN in Mangalore ? Silently our government is bringing COVID virus from neighboring district. So bad.
As for as essential commodities let the vehicles line up on Mangalore side and enter only during specified time , say one or two hours in a day. No entry of people or ambulance from Kerala be allowed to Karnataka.

Gowda is most generous person by helping other states and neglecting DK.. He approved Ettinahole project and won the election from Doddabalapur..As a railway minister earlier he can’t upgrade mangaluru r railway station because of Palakkad railway income. Now again strange decision by allowing entry by opening borders..

There are some people who say where will the people in kasargod go for good medical treatment if they close the road, but I would like to ask one question to the government of Kerala, Karnataka also has one part just like kasargod in Kerala i.e belguam district ,where a good percent of people living over there are Marathi people just like how Karnataka people are in good percent in kasargod district, but see the difference, our state has made belguam into a developed city, infact it's a tier 2 city in india just like Mangalore. But kasargod Even after over 72 year since independence is still depending upon Mangalore for healthcare, higher education and transportation where as belguam is a developed city in karnataka. Kerala must accept the fact that they have always neglected this part of thier state.

Where are our representatives? Opening Mangalore - Kasargod route is like opening a can full of worms!
I have sympathy to the people effected in Kasargod, however, free movement on this highway will be disastrous for Mangaloreans.
    Dear MP<
PLEASE INTERVENE and restrict the movement to only essential commodities.

Corona Virus / COVID-19 transmitted through human nasal and oral body fluids...It does not travel through air without being in these body fluids...

So these trucks / Vehicles travelling in your roads may not effect you as long as you are 1-2 meters away from them ( assuming they are infected)....

That's why Modiji asked you to sit inside your house for 2 Weeks...

As a nation, many priorities come. Kerala is not having medical facilities in it's mother district of Kasaragod. But, there are inter-state arrangements between states. Also Kerala cannot build facilities in short notice of days. So, medical emergencies should be relaxed at the border under the present circumstances.
It is improper to come to a verdict that as people of other districts/ state have the virus, so, it may come to our district. Only the central government has sovereign powers to take such a mighty decision.
For instance, there was a covid positive case in the army.. Hypothetically asking, if a Police personnel in Dakshina Kannada tests positive, could one boycott the police? This is highly illogical.

Internal resources are made from tax payers money within state and it should first be allotted to people within during contingencies. Masks, protective gears, medicines, ventilators are scarce resources and priority should be for locals and people from outside the state cannot claim it legally. Why Keralites from Palakkad is routed to Coimbatore, Kasaragod to Mangalore and Wynad to Mysore....? Communist CM is worried about migrants, stray dogs, drunkards and addicts with totally misplaced priorities. His press conferences is nauseating with long pauses and crafted words. What Kerala is doing to develop internal resources and infrastructure. It is a routine standard procedure to seal boarders during epidemic outbreaks and Mangaloreans need not pay the price for ignorance and arrogance of their neighbor. If not, why then funny state boarders? Just to burden maps and social studies curriculum for secondary schools......?

OMG! Kasaragod is the epicentre of Corona virus . So many infected people are there.l
They will come to Mangalore and the no of infected persons will increase and then if they die ,the death number in Karnataka will increase. Rajdeep sirdesai will shout Karnataka govt should learn from Kerala.. Disgusting. According to him what India thinks tomorrow ,Kerala thinks today.. This is the way Kerala is thinking..All the waste dumping in Karnataka at night.. Ok. Then let Kasaragod be in Karnataka. Kannada schools in Kerala are suffering.Mr Gowda should think about it or let him resign.
Number of Corona virus cases in Mangaluru will increase now.

Our district administration has done a excellent job so far to control the spread of virus in Mangalore. But this decision can be disastrous if free movement is allowed. Please do not throw away all the good work due to this decision. Please put proper policies in place on movement of people. Kasaragod has more covid-19 cases than whole of Karnataka put together. Public representatives please take a right decision and protect people of Mangalore.

Bad decision. I understand that the idea of blocking borders is wrong, but then considering the circumstances, it was the right thing to do.
Most affected were the patients from Kasaragod, but if they start cmng to hospitals with multiple bystanders along with the patient, it is going to be a disaster.
As of now, we need to treat every Kasaragod pt as a suspect corona case.
This is going to be a disaster. Already there are mlore doctors who r in self quarantine, who have come in contact with corona positive pts (later diagnosed).
Hospital doctors in mlore are already not equipped with safety equipments.
This is a disaster. The fault is on the private hospitals located in outskirts of Kerala like uppala who have stopped seeing their own pts for fear of being affected. This pts are now dumped on mlore doctors

Medical supplies including ventilators, masks, protective gears etc., in Covid 19 scenario are scarce resources and Kerala need to find its own resources to treat their patients. Karnataka should not allow Covid 19 patients from Kasargod district to access and exhaust medical facilities deployed in Mangalore. Pushing the distress to neighborhood is an outdated strategy of communists. Their priority is to ensure liquor supply and development of cadre within the state and their CM busy issuing outdated ordinances and press conferences to fool people. Let them answer why Kasaragod is backward even after 64 years of formation of state? Let them set up exclusive medical set up at district head quarters. Else, why interstate boarders and let Kerala implement Mahajan Committee report....!
