Tumakuru, Mar 27: Coronavirus seems to be stepping up its grip over the society. It has been reported that a man lost his life due to coronavirus infection at the district hospital here on Friday, March 27.
Deputy commissioner of the district Dr Rakesh Kumar, stated that a 65-year-old man admitted into the district hospital here breathed his last as a victim of the dreaded disease at around 10.45 am on Friday.
This happens to be the first coronavirus victim from this district. The man in question was from Sira. He reportedly had travelled to Yeshwantpur from Delhi by train on March 11. He also had taken part in a meeting held at Jamia mosque at New Delhi.

All the 25 members in his household have been kept in isolation. Samples of 33 persons who came in contact with the person have been sent for testing. With his death, the state had witnessed three deaths and the country as a whole witnessed 18 deaths on account of coronavirus. The total number of people suspected of infection has crossed 700 with Karnataka having 55 of them.
The disease has taken away lives of about 24,000 people the world over, while the number of infected people has crossed five lac. USA with 85,000 infected people, is in the first place as far as number of infected persons is concerned, while Italy, with over 8,000 deaths, and has been the country most ravaged by this disease.
