Bantwal, Mar 2: Bantwal tahsildar Rashmi S R said that mass marriages help in avoiding excessive expenditure. Therefore, she asserted, mass marriages are ideal.
She was speaking after presiding over a meeting programme organized as part of the mass engagement programme held at Punjalkatte Nandagokula hall on Sunday March 1 in preparation for the 12th free mass marriage programme being held by Punjalkatte Swastik Friends Club on March 8.
The tahsildar promised to take steps to ensure that the facilities extended by the government to couples who enter wedlock in such mass marriages are made available. She urged the couples to understand each other, lead an ideal life, and keep a smile on face always to make the family life enjoyable.
Mescom superintending engineer Manjappa, hailed Tungappa Bangera as an ideal leader who organizes programmes with the feelings of even the lower strata of society in mind.
Vincent Serra, president of Pandavarakallu agricultural service cooperative bank, said that family life gets strength when both the people try to be compatible to one another and asked the couples to make an effort to always keep this in mind.

Founder president of Swastik Friends Club M Tungappa Bangera, delivered introductory address. Club president Prashant Punjalkatte, honorary president Abdulla P, secretary Jayaraj Attaje, treasurer Rajesh Bangera Pulimajalu, former president Madhava Bangera and other members were present.
Progressive farmers, Ravi Poojary and Girish Salian Hegdebettu, took upon themselves the roles of Gurkars at the engagement ceremony and performed the 'Tamboolam' programme. As per the tradition of Tulunadu, the Gurkars exchanged platters containing betel leaves, areca nuts, and jasmine flowers. Thereafter, clothes were presented to the grooms and brides. Ten couples and their families participated in the programme.
