Kadaba, Feb 28: In a tragic incident which happened at Sudengala in Koila village of Kadaba taluk on Thursday, February 27, a youth who had ventured into Kumaradhara river drowned. Arfaz (22), son of Isubu, resident of Janata Colony at Koila Junction lost his life in this accident.
Arfaz used to work in a shop at Bengaluru. He had come home on leave to be able to participate in the annual fair of Koila Neeraje mosque. He had gone into the river to take bath with friends, Aviz, Rifai and Qalandar from Koila. At Sudengala, where the water is deep, he went missing an drowned.
The fire brigade personal, who were sounded about the incident, visited the spot and searched in the river but failed to find the youth till evening. Later, expert divers and locals took up the search and succeeded in finding out and bringing the body out after prolonged efforts.
Arfaz was the eldest son in the family. He has left behind parents, two brothers and two sisters. Kadaba police sub-inspector, Rukma Naik, and staff guided the operations.
The spot at Sudengala where the current tragedy happened is the spot where the presiding deities of Rakunjeshwara temple in Ramakunja and Athoor Sadashiva Mahaganapathi temple are given a holy bath. This spot is very dangerous, and a young man had been washed away at this spot about five years back.
