Udupi, Dec 28: Manipal College of Health Professions (MCHP), a premier institution under the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), celebrated its 25th Annual and Awards Day on December 27.
As the institution marks its Silver Jubilee (2024-2025), it reaffirmed its position as a pioneer in allied health education in India and Asia, providing top-notch training to students from 22 countries and preparing them for careers in the ever-expanding healthcare industry.
Established in 1999, MCHP has evolved into a centre of excellence for allied health sciences, offering undergraduate and postgraduate programs tailored to meet global healthcare demands.
The institution is renowned for its state-of-the-art infrastructure, clinical facilities, and commitment to quality education and research. Over 70% of its alumni are placed in reputed organizations worldwide, contributing significantly to the field of healthcare.
The event was inaugurated by Dr Sharath K Rao, pro vice-chancellor of Health Sciences at MAHE. He emphasised the critical role of allied health professionals in improving patient outcomes and commended MCHP for its contributions to interdisciplinary healthcare education and research.
Dr Yagna Shukla, chairperson of the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions, was the chief guest. In her address, she highlighted the significance of allied health professionals as an integral part of the healthcare system, playing key roles in disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation. She also lauded MCHP’s growth and the achievements of its alumni across the globe.
Dr G Arun Maiya, dean of MCHP, presented the institution’s annual report, detailing its remarkable journey over the past 25 years. He highlighted MCHP’s consistent expansion and its global impact in allied health education.
Guests of honour, Dr Giridhar Kini, registrar of MAHE, and Dr Suresh Babu Reddy, vice-president of the Indian Association of Physiotherapists, felicitated the best outgoing students for their exemplary achievements.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by associate dean Dr B Reshmi and Dr Krithica. The celebrations reflected MCHP’s unwavering commitment to excellence in allied health education and its pivotal role in shaping the future of healthcare.
As it enters its 26th year, MCHP continues to uphold its legacy of academic and professional excellence, catering to the growing needs of the global healthcare industry.
