Mangaluru, Dec 28: The state cabinet has approved two significant infrastructure projects in the Mangaluru constituency, with a combined budget of Rs 262 crore, Speaker U T Khader announced.
The first project involves constructing a bridge connecting Kotepura and Bolar at a cost of Rs 200 crore. The second project, costing Rs 62 crore, entails building a bridge between Sajipa and Thumbay. Khader highlighted the benefits of these projects, stating that they will ease traffic congestion in Mangaluru city and serve as alternative routes during highway blockages.
Khader further revealed his vision for a coastal road, or "corniche," connecting the Kerala border along the seashore. He said, “A proposal for this project will be submitted to the central government.”
Additionally, he noted that the ongoing Jeppu-Mahakalipadpu underpass project would soon be completed. This development is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion at Pumpwell for commuters traveling toward Thokkottu.
