Doha, Jul 25: Dr. Hamad Al Jaber, a plastic surgery consultant at the Al Rumeilah hospital, revealed that 85 percent of cosmetic surgery patients in the country are Qatari nationals, especially as for nose job and post weight loss body restructuring are concerned.
“The ratio between men and women opting for deferent cosmetic surgeries is equal in Qatar,” said Al Jaber adding “most men in Qatar, choose to have their nose done and their bodies restructured after loosing weight”
Cosmetic surgery is on the rise here in Qatar, but Al Jaber warned patients of the false representation of cosmetic surgery advertisement here in Qatar.
“People should be more realistic and not fall for the advertisement of cosmetic surgeries which are being promoted like it is a beauty salon where people can just walk in and come out looking good, and hides the risks involved with such surgeries” said Al Jaber.
Al Jaber have pointed that there is a rising group of people who seem to be falling into the addiction of having surgeries here in Qatar, which he believes is a worrying thing.
“Some people walk into the operation with unrealistic expectation, with complete disregard to the risks involved” said Al Jaber.
More patients are opting to have their surgeries in secret, and wish to have them without the knowledge of family and friends, which Al Jaber finds concerning, because he believes that patients should have the support of their friends and family during these operations around them, because of the risks involved with the operation.
Body restructuring surgeries are on the rise in Qatar, and Al Jaber warns that patients have to be tolerant and patient, because these operations need to have the proper physical and mental preparedness because different surgeries need different healing times, and that also differs from one individual to another.
“Patients who have undergone gastric surgery for weight loss, have to be first monitored first by their family physician and psychiatrist for approval, and are supposed to have body restructuring surgery only after 2 years of the initial operation” said Al Jaber.
