Mangaluru, Sep 27: Reports say that a gang of four escaped after snatching away cash amounting to Rs one lac from the hands of a jeweller who had come here in connection with his jewellery business.

Ahmed, who owns a jewellery store at Thokkottu, had come here on Wednesday, September 25. He got some gold ornaments melted. He kept the melted gold in his pocket and was walking towards Bhawanthi Street with one lac rupees cash in his hands. It is said that at that time, an unidentified person rushed towards him, snatched away the cash, and escaped.

Ahmed chased the person, who ran towards a blue car without registration number that was standing there. Perhaps shaken by this sudden development, three persons, who were seated inside the car, abandoned the car there, and ran away along with Ahmed. This scene was captured by CCTV cameras.

The police, who were informed about the robbery, rushed to the spot and conducted investigation. A case was registered in the Bunder police station here and the police are hunting for the gang.
