Mangaluru, Sep 24: Karnataka Lokayukta superintendent of police here had organized a process in Ullal municipality auditorium to receive grievances petitions from the people living in Ullal municipal limits on Monday, September 23. On this occasion, various complaints were filed against the municipal commissioner of Ullal Vani Alva.
The complaints related to stubborn attitude in furnishing RTI information, wrongly showing additional hiring of workers, licences to unauthorized buildings, bribery, negligence in completing underground drainage work, haughty attitude when dealing with the general public, etc.
Social activist Kabir Ullal, said that as against 40 to 42 workers claimed to be employed in the municipality, only 18 civic workers are seen to be disposing waste. He wanted to know who is pocketing wages of the remaining people. He said that rich people are getting commercial buildings of the municipality through irregularities during auction, and then they are giving shops on sub-lease. He told Lokayukta deputy superintendent of police Vijayaprasad, that works like khata opening are attended in a day if Rs 15,000 to 20,000 is paid.
Nagarika Hitarakshama Samiti president Muammed Mustafa spoke about improper underground system, dengue cases, 65 files kept petaining to door number, 94, 94 c and 94 cc.
Deputy superintendents of police Vijayaprasad and Kalavathi, sub-inspector Bharathi, Mangaluru tahisldar Gururprasad, Ullal municipal commissioner Vani V Alva and health officer Rajesh were present.
Vijayaprasad asked the municipal commissioner to furnish full details about payment to workers, pending files, files rejected for frivolous reasons, pending RTI queries etc before the last date of next month. He told her that if she neglects the complaints, she may be in for trouble.
