Mangaluru: International Sports Day celebrated at Shakthi School

Mangaluru, Aug 29: “Sports increases the strength of the body and mind. Students should know the importance of playground and sports since school days, make use of them and achieve success in both sports and academics,” said national level hand ball sportsperson and trainer, M Tech degree holder Swaroop S. He was speaking after inaugurating the Sports Day held at Shakthi Residential School here. “Students should have the determination to excel after selecting the subjects of their choice,” he said.

Shakthi School principal, Vidya Kamath G said that students love games and playground. “But games should not be the only aim and academics should not be the only achievement in life. They should achieve equilibrium in games and studies and reach their peak in life,” she said.



A short film on great Indian hockey player Major Dhyan Chand on his achievements was shown in the programme held in his memory on International Sports Day.

Gopalakrishna temple managing trustee K C Naik, Shakthi Residential School principal Vidya Kamath, PU college principal Prabhaker G S were present.

Siddanth welcomed the gathering. Jishmitha explained the importance of the programme. Roski and Mark handled the narration. Glory rendered the vote of thanks.
