Mangaluru, Aug 17: Mount Carmel Central School's Kindergarten students said bye bye to Aati and welcomed Shravana masa by celebrating ‘Aati Flavours’ in an unique manner on Friday, August 16. Principal Sr Melissa along with administrator Sr Carissima were presented with a traditional head gear ‘muttale’ as they ushered in to the beat of the traditional Aati Kalenja dance.
The programme commenced giving praise to God for the blessing of five elements namely fire, water, air, space and earth without which ‘Aati Flavours’ would not have been possible. Words of welcome from the UKG students were heart touching. Mount Carmel's tiniest of the tiny students (Nursery) tapped their feet and shook their hips to the different beats of Aati songs. LKG students raised their hands and hearts in thanksgiving to the Almighty for the bounties of Nature. The students of UKG put up the most spectacular and traditional Aati Kalenja dance.
The programme culminated with principal Sr Melissa inaugurating the sumptuous spread of ‘Aati Flavours’. The infectious smile conveyed the appreciation and acknowledgement of all. It was a rare sight to watch the little ones smack their lips and lick their finger tips as they relished on ‘Aati Flavours’. This celebration of ‘Aati Flavours’ was possible with the cooperation of the parents of the Kindergarten students and the loving labour of the teachers in arranging this programme for 450 students of the kindergarten.
