Mangaluru, Aug 16: St Aloysius College (Autonomous), here celebrated the 73rd Independence Day in front of the college.
Dr Saraswathi Kumari, HOD of Kannada was the chief guest. She spoke on the significance of Independence Day. Unfurling the National flag was led by cadets of NCC Army Wing, Air Wing, Navy Wing along with the students of NSS of the college.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Saraswathi Kumari said that the aliens who came to India for business viciously exploited us. They spread scientific civilization in India and fascinated us. India became the home of conflict and this conflict took place in every corner of the country. On August 15, 1947, India secured independence and became a democratic country. In today’s independent India, we see various forms of evil like corruption, casteism and our economic system is systematically deteriorating.
Rector, Fr Dionysius Vaz, SJ, principal, Fr Dr Praveen Martis, SJ, registrar, Dr A M Narahari, CoE, Dr Alwyn D'Sa, finance officer, Fr Vincent Pinto, SJ, directors, deans, teaching and non-teaching staff and students were present for the programme.
