Mangaluru, Aug 16: St Aloysius College Higher Primary School celebrated Independence Day on August 15 at the school auditorium.
The programme began by invoking God’s blessings through a prayer. The chief guest of the day was Vikram Dutta, former navy officer. The other dignitaries present were Arvind Rao, vice president PTA and headmistress, Philomena Lewis.
The chief guest was led by the guard of honour along with the headmistress and vice president of PTA accompanied by the school band. The chief guest hoisted the National flag which was then followed by the National Anthem.
In his message, the chief guest said that there is a freedom fighter in each of our families if we look into the history of our ancestors. The values of protection of our country and national integration has to be inborn in an individual from infancy. Rights of protection of our country is our prime importance. He advised the parents to give good quality education so that they can achieve higher standards in their lives.
A cultural programme of Standard VII students was next in line and the significance of the day was highlighted.
Prizes were distributed to the winners of the patriotic singing competition of LKG and UKG students. The winners of taluk level Table Tennis and national level Spellbee were felicitated, followed by a vote of thanks.
Sweets were distributed to the students.
