Mangaluru: St Aloysius College holds medical camp for students and staff

Mangaluru, Jul 25: St Aloysius College (Autonomous) Mangaluru, in association with Youth Red Cross Unit, SAC and Yenepoya Medical College Hospital, Deralakatte, Mangaluru organized a medical camp for all students and staff of the institute on July 25, 2019 in the Main Auditorium of the college.

Dr Mohammed Guthigar, HOD of Dept of MSW, Yenepoya Medical College Hospital was the Chief Guest and inaugurated the camp. Principal, Fr Dr Praveen Martis, SJ presided over the programme. Director of Maffie Block, Dr Loveena Lobo and Coordinator of Youth Red Cross, Premalatha Shetty were on the dais.

Dr Mohammed Guthigar, in his address said that the life style of the youth has been spoiled by adopting the fast food culture. He suggested that all should make it a habit to have green vegetables and drink more water. He advised students to avoid using too much of mobile phones which will deteriorate the memory as well as health. He said that youth are attracted by various kinds of unhealthy substances and spoil their future. He urged the students to make a habit of having food in a disciplined manner to maintain good health. Physical exercise and balanced food habits create a sound mind and body.



Principal, Fr Dr Praveen Martis, in his presidential remarks, appreciated the organizers and the team of Doctors from Yenepoya Medical College for the medical services offered to students and staff of the college through the medical camp. He also suggested the students to maintain good health by adopting healthy eating habits and say goodbye to the fast food and beverages.

During the camp, free medical checkup was done and medicines were distributed. Doctors from the General Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynaecology (OBG), Ophthalmology (Eye), Ear Nose & Throat (ENT) and Orthopaedic (Musculoskeletal) rendered their services during the camp.

Around 300 students and staff benefitted from the camp.

Varenya, II B Sc compered the programme. Dr Loveena Lobo welcomed the gathering. Premalatha Shetty rendered the vote of thanks.
