Kolkata, Apr 21: West Bengal Governor C.V. Ananda Bose was admitted to Command Hospital in South Kolkata on Monday afternoon after routine medical checks revealed a cardiac blockage. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited the hospital to inquire about his condition.

Raj Bhavan sources indicated that Governor Bose arrived at the hospital for his scheduled medical check-up. Doctors subsequently detected the blockage and decided to admit him for further observation and treatment.

Upon receiving news of his hospitalization, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee promptly visited Command Hospital to assess the Governor's health.

"I came to inquire about the Governor's health after learning of his admission. I am now leaving for Midnapore. I will return to Kolkata tomorrow after my scheduled events in the district," stated Chief Minister Banerjee as she exited the hospital, before departing for Salboni in West Midnapore to inaugurate a thermal power plant.

Governor Bose's hospitalization occurred shortly after his return from a two-day tour of Murshidabad district, which recently experienced communal violence and unrest following protests against the Waqf (Amendment) Act. He had also visited a relief camp in neighboring Malda district, where displaced residents of Murshidabad are currently housed.

During his visit, the Governor pledged to submit a detailed report to the Union government and discuss the situation with the Chief Minister. He also committed to conveying the local residents' request for permanent Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) camps in the affected areas of Murshidabad.

On Sunday evening, Governor Bose met with a delegation from the National Commission of Women (NCW), including the commission's Chairperson, for an extensive discussion on the Murshidabad situation. He reportedly assured the NCW delegation that he would ensure the safety of women and children in the district.
